A well-marked trail that offers panoramic views from Old Bald Ridge, suitable for all hikers.

Directions to Location

  1.  From downtown Sylva, turn on Grindstaff Cove Road and follow it past the Justice Center to its intersection with US 23 North/US 74 East
  2.  Travel approximately 11 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance at Balsam Gap
  3.  Travel north toward Asheville for 7.8 miles and turn right into the Doubletop Overlook parking lot
  4.  Start at the marked post on the right side of the overlook, which leads after a short distance to the Mountains-to-Sea Trail
  5.  At the trail junction, go left
  6.  Follow the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, which is marked with white 3-inch dots, until you come to Old Bald Ridge, the open grassy area with panoramic views.
