Fireworks Extravaganza On the Green

The Village Green 160 Frank Allen Road, Cashiers, NC, United States

The Village Green’s annual Fireworks Extravaganza will take place rain or shine on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024 on The Village Green Common’s Lawn! The evening will feature an incredible band, followed by an extraordinary fireworks show featuring thousands of colorful bursts. Admission is free, however, donations will be collected to help offset the cost of the event. Attendees are welcome to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics and coolers. The Village Green believes it is important to preserve this patriotic tradition for the Cashiers community! This event is one you don’t want to miss!

The town's annual July 4 Fireworks in Sylva should begin at dark (generally around 9:45 p.m.) and are visible from various locations throughout downtown Sylva and the immediate surrounding areas. Free concert from 6:30-9:30 p.m., by Gotcha Groove (classic rock/pop/soul/beach covers) at Bridge Park in Sylva, N.C. Bring a chair or blanket. Pets must be on a leash. Food and beverage vendors on site. No smoking, vaping, coolers or tents allowed. Children's activities from 4-8 p.m. by the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department. Fireworks at dark (approximately 9:30 p.m.).

Some of the world’s finest musicians have come from Western North Carolina and that rich tradition carries on today. Here in Jackson County, the Town of Sylva, Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department and Jackson County Chamber of Commerce team up to produce the Concerts on the Creek series at the Bridge Park gazebo in Sylva every Friday from 7-9 p.m., typically from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The 15th annual season will start on Friday, May 31 (Memorial Day weekend) and end on Friday, Aug. 30 (Labor Day weekend). That will be 15 Fridays of Concerts on the Creek, with the Fireworks Festivities and concert on Tuesday, July 4 sprinkled in for good measure. Fireworks on Lake Glenville “Majesty Over Water!”

Fireworks over Lake Glenville 4098 Highway 107 N, Glenville, NC, United States

Presented by the Friends of Lake Glenville This event is in celebration of our nation’s birthday. This tradition started more than 20 years ago, when Stuart Hall and friends produced a remarkable show, with a very small budget, from a barge near Buck Knob Island. The show will again be based at The Point at Glenville Lake subdivision across the lake from Hattler Realty on Highway 107 N. There is always a large audience on boats that enjoy the fireworks from the water. The Friends of Lake Glenville is responsible for the organization and financing of this signature event and rely exclusively on private contributions. The show is scheduled to commence at dusk.

This year, gear up for a spectacular display of nature's power and engineering prowess with the High Falls Dam Release at Lake Glenville. As the dam releases whitewater into the west fork of the Tuckasegee River, witness a transformation of the serene High Falls into a formidable force, creating class IV rapids over a 5.5-mile stretch. This rare event is a must-see for outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. 2024 Release Dates: April 27-28 June 8 July 6 & 27 August 10 & 24 The event is recommended for experienced boaters only due to the challenging nature of the rapids and the high flows. Duke Energy releases these flows to comply with license requirements and neither encourages nor discourages recreational use of high flows by the public. Visitors are advised to stay out of the water and enjoy the spectacle from a safe distance.

Cashiers Plein Air Festival

Nationally acclaimed painters from throughout the country set up their easels to capture the beauty of the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau landscape and quaint mountain lifestyle. This type of outdoor location painting is known as en plein air, French for open air. The Cashiers Plein Air Festival is a biennial event held to raise funds to enhance The Village Green. During this week-long event, artists set up their easels in and around Cashiers to create original art depicting the area. These unique paintings are displayed for viewing and sale at The Village Green Commons. Other highlights include a special patron party, the Palette to Palate Affair, as well as live demonstrations by the artists. The Cashiers Plein Air Festival will take place July 15-20, 2024. Music fills the air in The Village Green no matter the season. Groovin’ on The Green remains a vibrant, FREE summer concert series, creating unforgettable music experiences for the community! Groovin’ on The Green concerts will begin at 6:00pm, RAIN OR SHINE, held on The Village Green Common’s Lawn. Please bring your own lawn chairs and blankets. Picnics and coolers are welcome! Dogs are welcome as long as they are leashed and with their owners at all times. Food and beverage vendors will be on-site during each concert! The Village Green will continue offering the opportunity for a group to “Rent a Tent”. The Village Green will be providing fifteen 10×10 tents at $100 per tent, per concert. Tent reservation links will be open in early 2024, and are first come, first serve. Sapphire Valley Arts & Crafts Festival

A seasonal tradition, the Sapphire Valley Arts & Crafts Festivals were founded more 30 years ago. Each show is a two-day event ( Saturday and Sunday ). Enjoy live music, along with food and drink concessions, kids' activities and other special surprises! To ensure quality, the shows are juried by an artisan committee. This year, gear up for a spectacular display of nature's power and engineering prowess with the High Falls Dam Release at Lake Glenville. As the dam releases whitewater into the west fork of the Tuckasegee River, witness a transformation of the serene High Falls into a formidable force, creating class IV rapids over a 5.5-mile stretch. This rare event is a must-see for outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. 2024 Release Dates: April 27-28 June 8 July 6 & 27 August 10 & 24 The event is recommended for experienced boaters only due to the challenging nature of the rapids and the high flows. Duke Energy releases these flows to comply with license requirements and neither encourages nor discourages recreational use of high flows by the public. Visitors are advised to stay out of the water and enjoy the spectacle from a safe distance.

These mountains are known as much for the music that comes out of them as they are for their picturesque vistas, cascading waterfalls and alluring trails. Some of the world’s finest musicians have come from Western North Carolina and that rich tradition carries on today. Here in Jackson County, the Town of Sylva, Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department and Jackson County Chamber of Commerce team up to produce the Concerts on the Creek series at the Bridge Park gazebo in Sylva every Friday from 7-9 p.m., typically from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Green Energy Park Youth Arts Fest

The 14th Annual Youth Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, September 21st. This event is free and geared specifically towards kids with the intention of giving them a space to participate in a multitude of arts and crafts related activities. Our artists as well as community members provide demonstrations and/or activities for attendees to either observe or participate in. Demonstrations in glassblowing, blacksmithing, raku, flameworking, etc. are generally available to watch. Activities range in a variety of media, anywhere from ceramics, face painting, sewing, and so much more. Food is available for purchase on site from local vendors. There will be no on site parking available. There will be free satellite parking available as well as free shuttles running to and from all locations.
