Renowned interior designers from throughout the southeast transform rooms in a home in the event known as the Cashiers Designer Showhouse. Leading area landscapers are involved in redefining the areas surrounding the home and in turn creating serene and evocative late summer mountain gardens for showhouse strolling. This year’s Showhouse will take place from July 27 to August 5 at a wonderful, historic home that truly embodies all that is Cashiers. Worthy of being preserved and appreciated, the home is an elegant estate with a traditional gothic style, making it the ideal palette for our local and visiting design professionals that we, in partnership with Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine, have invited to unleash their creativity. The week will kickoff with a Preview Party on the evening of July 27, and will close with a Jazz Brunch on August 5th. Throughout the week, Showhouse attendees will admire the work of the talented designers; enjoy a variety of workshops, book signings, and panel discussions from beloved creatives across the country, such as Jane Scott Hodges of Leontine Linens; and peruse an array of popup shops while interacting with the famous faces behind the brands, including author and designer, Danielle Rollins, who will be onsite to showcase her new clothing collection. The Cashiers Historical Society invites you to participate in this year’s Showhouse. The Great Balsam Bike Relay

August 11 @ 8:00 am7:00 pm
NC United States

The Great Balsam Bike Relay will be held in Jackson County, North Carolina on August 11th, 2018. The race is unique, combining the disciplines of road biking and mountain biking. Teams of four racers will travel over dirt trails, gravel, and asphalt over the course of the race. This event is a relay, much like the popular Smoky Mountain Relay. But instead of running a course through western North Carolina’s mountains, you’ll cycle it. Teams are made up of four cyclists, ideally two mountain bikers and two road specialists. Each rider will ride two segments, one at a time, for a total of eight riding segments. Segments vary in both length and elevation profile. Mountain bikes are permitted on paved sections, but no road bikes on the trail or gravel sections. Cyclocross bikes are permitted, except for on designated single-track sections. Limited mechanical support in case of bike breakdowns will be provided, but we advise that you check out our required and recommended gear list in order to be fully prepared for the event.
