Groovin’ On The Green has gleaned popularity as a Friday night destination in Cashiers.  The music is always good, the program varied.  Summertime, the green of the green, the blankets and chairs all around with happy people and their dogs.  That’s what Groovin’ is all about.  Great music in a stunning venue in the beautiful weather.  The summer concert series for 2019 will be held Friday at 6:30 pm at the Village Commons. Musician lineup will be added to this listing once set.

Green Energy Park Youth Arts Fest

A celebration of art, music, green energy & community fun for the entire family! Each year the Green Energy Park host dozens of organizations and regional artists who come to share their knowledge and the love of the arts. Last year we had over 1000 visitors! You and your family can enjoy: • Face painting • Jewelry making • Throwing clay pots • Painting with flip-flops • Handprint painting our logo on canvas • Block printing • Recycled bugs • Live entertainment • Food from B & Al's Come watch demonstrations of glassblowing, blacksmithing, pottery, printing, gem cutting, torchworking and raku kiln firing. We'll have live entertainment, good food and fun! The metal forges and the glass furnaces used by the artists use renewable landfill gas from a near-by closed landfill to power them. All the artists at the festival will enjoy helping children to create their own works of art. One of the highlights of the one-day festival is the Green Energy Park 'Trash Dragon,' a gargantuan costume created and built by local artists totally out of trash. Timm Muth, Director of the Green Energy Park, said, "it's fun and educational when children can see something beautiful being created out of stuff that people throw away." Mountain Heritage Day

The 45th annual Mountain Heritage Day will be a combination old-fashioned mountain fair and showcase for Southern Appalachian music, arts, dance and song, with the atmosphere of a big family reunion. Visitors will find three stages of traditional old-time, gospel, and bluegrass music and dance, with plenty of fiddles, banjos, and clogging. Festival-goers are invited to join in workshops at the Circle Tent and participate in shape-note singing, one of the mountains’ sacred traditions. Admission and parking are free so bring your family and experience all that our rich heritage has to offer. Don't miss the Smoky Mountain Splendor Quilt Show at the Ramsey Regional Activity Center on campus, featuring 300+ quilts, displays, vendors and more. Mountain Heritage Day is recognized as one of the "Top 20" events in the Southeast for the month of September.

Cashiers Leaf Festival

Some may be sad to see summer go, but the crisp, cool fall air brings lots of fun to the mountain town of Cashiers, NC. The change of seasons calls thousands of “leaf peepers” to our area to enjoy the brilliant fall foliage. The festival is recognized as one of the "Top 20" events in the Southeast for the month of October. The Cashiers Valley Leaf Festival has been an annual attraction for over 10 years and is held to celebrate the beginning of autumn in the Western North Carolina mountains. This three-day festival will take place over the long Columbus Day holiday weekend. Visitors who attend will shop for unique handcrafted treasures from more than 100 artisans and merchants throughout The Village Green’s 13+ acre park. Wood, pottery, jewelry, photography are just some of the many items that will be displayed and for sale throughout the weekend. Guests will sample a variety of food and beverages and enjoy live music on two stages during the event.

Cashiers Christmas Parade Block Party

Due to forecast deteriorating and severe weather conditions, the 44th Annual Cashiers Christmas Parade will NOT be held as scheduled. Instead, join us for the Cashiers Christmas Parade Block Party on Tuesday, 12/11, 3:30 to 5:30 on Frank Allen Road where floats, entertainment, and Santa & Mrs. Claus will host a 'Parade Promenade" for the public to enjoy. Cashiers Cares will host their traditional fund raising meal at the firehouse. Frank Allen Road will be closed to vehicular traffic from the Recreation center to the Fire dDepartment. See the Cashiers Area Chamber Facebook page and below map for additional details. Please attend and support our parade participants who enthusiastically prepared for this special event. ---------------------- This year’s theme is “Over the River and Through the Woodes” in celebration of Camp Merrie-Woode’s centennial anniversary who will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal. Participants are encouraged to feature “Merrie Mountain Christmas Traditions” on their entries. Parade lineup and check-in will start at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the South entrance of Cashiers School Road by Cashiers United Methodist Church. Cashiers School Road will remain one way beginning Saturday morning in preparation for parade participants’ safety during line-up. The one-mile parade route will start at Cornucopia Restaurant and head North on Hwy 107 toward the Crossroads then turn West on US Highway 64 ending at the Cashiers Community Center on Frank Allen Road for the annual Cashiers Cares Community Luncheon and meet and greet with Santa.
