A mountain tradition of “Airing of the Quilts” will take place at Dillsboro’s Appalachian Women’s Museum April 21 from noon to 4 p.m. Stop by and see quilts on display from area quilters and mountain artisans. During the airing, visitors will be able to tour the renovated Appalachian Women’s Museum, the first and only museum dedicated to the Southern Appalachian woman.
Plan to enjoy music at the pavilion on the property, a raffle of a quilt watercolor painting, a quilt scavenger hunt, and a photographer to take photos of quilts and owners. The day of, there will be a quilt square/fabric scraps exchange. Folks can bring squares or fabric they no longer want, measured and labeled with amount of yardage, placed in plastic ziplock bags. It’s a great way to recycle like our quilting ancestors used to do!
